Dreambird Shawl

This shawl will be a lovely, quirky addition to your wardrobe. It is knit primarily in garter stitch using two contrasting colors of DK or Sock yarn. A solid color body with feathers of long color changes achieved the look of the sample (pictured). This pattern lends itself to all sorts of different looks, depending on colors and textures of yarn selected.

Knitters of intermediate skill level and above will achieve success with this project. German short rows are used to shape the feathers and there are basically only two shapes; feather and in-between triangles. These shapes are repeated to create the desired size.

The pattern is $4 and is found on Ravelry (https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/dreambird-kal). It includes a lengthy narrative and an alternate, abbreviated, row-by-row description. Also included is a pattern for a Minibird Shawl, suitable for a small person or a child.

Class will be held on Thursdays, October 3 through 24, from 1pm to 3pm with instructor Sue Nelson.

All yarn must be purchased at Ann's By Design. The sample used 1.5 hanks of Cascade Heritage yarn (background) and 1 skein of Cascade Melilla Fingering yarn (feathers) on size 3 circular needles. Other yarn combinations may be used following the yardage requirements found in the pattern.
